2 John | Bible Summary

Summary

2 John is a letter written by the apostle John to a fellow believer, and her children, whom he calls the elect lady (1). He rejoices to find some of her children walking in the truth (4) and reminds her of the commandment that they love one another (5). John then defines love as walking according to God's commandments (6) and warns of the many deceiving antichrists in the world who do not confess the coming of Jesus in the flesh (7–8); further warning that everyone who doesn't abide in the teachings of Christ does not have God, but those who do have the Father and the Son (9). A command not to receive anyone who comes and does not bring this teaching so as not to take part in their wicked works (10–11).
