Philemon | Bible Summary

Summary

Philemon is a letter written by the apostle Paul to a fellow believer named Philemon (1, 5). Paul encourages Philemon on account of the love and faith he’s heard Philemon has (4—7). Paul pleads for Philemon to accept his runaway slave Onesimus, who has become a Christian too (8—10), not as a slave but as a brother just as Philemon would welcome Paul (16—17).

Main Idea

Unconditional Love for Fellow Christians (16)

  1. Treat all fellow believers, regardless of status, as beloved brothers and sisters in Christ (16)
  2. Receive a runaway slave, who is now a Christian, as you would receive an apostle of Christ (17)
